Kenyon Commencement didactic story

-there are these 2 guys sitting together in a bar in the remote alaskan wilderness. one of the guys is religious, the other is an atheist, and the two are arguing about the existence of God with that special intensity that comes after about the fourth beer. and the atheist says: "Look, its not like I dont have actual reasons for not believeing in God. Its not like I havent ever experimented with the whole God and prayer thing. Just last month I got caught away from the camp in that terrible blizzard, and I was totally lost and I couldnt see a thing, and it was fifty below, and so i tried it: I fell to my knees in the snow and cried out 'Oh, God, if there is a God, Im lost in this blizzard, and im gonna die if you dont help me."" And now, in the bar, the religious guy looks at the atheist all puzzled. "well then you must believe now," he says, "after all, here you are, alive." The atheist just rolls his eyes. "No, man, all that was a couple Eskimos happened to come wandering by and showed me the way back to camp."-

The exact same experience can mean 2 totally different things to two different people, given those peoples two different belief templates and two different ways of constructing meaning from experience.
The definition of MEANING can differ in every culture, ethnicity, age, gender etc. We can argue the claim that one guys interpretation is true and the other view is wrong. But who are we to judge the difference of meaning?
Try not to be arrogant and try to be aware.

as i prepare for sleep i would like to leave everyone with a video for the night.

linkin park - in between

Let me apologize to begin with
Let me apologize for what I'm about to say
But trying to be genuine was harder than it seemed
But somehow I got caught up in between

Let me apologize to begin with
Let me apologize for what I'm about to say
But trying to be someone else was harder than it seemed
But somehow I got caught up in between

Between my pride and my promise
Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way
The things I want to say to you get lost before they come
The only thing that's worse than one is none

Let me apologize to begin with
Let me apologize for what I'm about to say
But trying to regain your trust was harder than it seemed
But somehow I got caught up in between

Between my pride and my promise
Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way
The things I want to say to you get lost before they come
The only thing that's worse than one is none
The only thing that's worse than one is none

And I cannot explain to you
In anything I say or do or plan
Fear is not afraid of you
Guilt's a language you can understand
I cannot explain to you in anything I say or do
I hope the actions speak the words they can

For my pride and my promise
For my lies and how the truth gets in the way
The things I want to say to you get lost before they come
The only thing that's worse than one is none

For my pride and my promise
Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way
The things I want to say to you get lost before they come
The only thing that's worse than one is none
The only thing that's worse than one is none
The only thing that's worse than one is none
