beyonce and a vintage ass beach cruiser?

i have currently been on that fixed gear tip. been doing pretty good at it too, learned a few tricks thanks to jason and judson. been riding around a lot and been doing it without brakes (fixed gears are bikes with a cog and lock ring thus no free wheel action so this means i would have to back pedal to stop) its been real exciting, bunch of my friends have fixies so its dope to cruise and chill. since my fixie and my motorcycle (fuji track kind of and a yamaha r6) are my only forms of transportation im getting pretty good at riding both. who needs a car anyways right?

so i just came back from NYC (soho manhattan area to be exact) and it was an amazing experience. i went with originally 6 people (jason, mark, franklin, jimmy, pat and paul) then rich decided to head there alone and drive by his lonesome! i cant believe he made it there without falling asleep at the wheel or getting kidnapped.

before arriving to NYC i stayed at my cousin's house to chill the night. the house was in connecticut and it was in a really hill type area. it looked like scenes from the movie "twilight"

i got to see luke and jake my nephews who are the most cutest kids ever! we played ball the first night in at this dope ass open gym. the oxygen out there was so pure, maybe because it was all trees. i would like to thank my cousin claudine for having us and david for letting us stay as well.

NYC is such a ugly/beautiful city! garbage everywhere but the buildings and architecture were amazing. tagged up walls everywhere! everyday we ate at this place called dumpling house, they had thee most amazing fried dumplings and this chinese stuffed pizza that was made out of sesame bread, carrots, cilantro, and your choice of meat, pork, duck.

probably the greatest thing about new york is the fashion. most everyone is fashion forward and looks fresh to death. dapper even. thank goodness i didnt bring much money because if i did i would have spent it all at ralph lauren or marc jacobs.

everywhere we went was walking distance so that was perfect. there was even this ballet performance on 4th street that capped off an amazing walk to DQM.

the night life there was very boogie we went to lower east side and the meat packing district. i dont want to enclose how much we drank but we had muchos fun.

the final day in NYC was a sad moment, ate at dumpling house and said farewell to everything.

in the future after graduating college i will most likely move to NYC just to see how it is and live the city life for real.

"you dont really know what you got until its gone." i find that this quote is true. sometimes people take things for granted and people don't see what they really have until they figure out til the end. but is it too late to try and do something about it? is "it" really gone? i have been told to fight for what you want and there can be no what ifs and if you do fail at least you failed trying. i know this quote is true because of experience. i had something great/amazing but i was blinded by my fears. i was scared of something great, when i fought for it i knew it was too late, but someone told me that there is no such thing as right timing, so why is it bad timing that i am too late? chances come and go in life and its our responsibility to take the chances as they present themselves. i know that i messed up my chance(s) but i know that if i get another i wont mess that up. fall out boy once told me "hell or glory, i dont want anything in between", oh and jordan once told me, "i can accept failure but i cant accept not trying." i have learned so much from what i had and i learned so much from this experience. i just want to learn more and experience more with what i had but only time will tell right? there is another saying that goes, "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you it's yours" thank you.

so mark and I had a "little" gathering at the house to celebrate our aging. we was a pretty nice turn out. i got a phone call from my friend nerd saying he has a surprise for me and that i should open the side door. i see him and his girlfriend (klarisse) coming to the door, its pouring rain like crazy and i see nerd carrying this big ass red cake. as he gets closer i see an amazing logo that everyone should know...

He knows mark and I love jordan so him and his girlfriend baked a cake that had the jordan logo on it. the cake was crazy delicious! at 1st we didnt even want to touch it because of its glory but that cake was amazing. it was really really sweet, just like my friend nerd ;)

headed over to that burger joint near depaul with my good friend franklin (man date) to check out this place that is supposedly better than in n out burger...it was good..but not In n Out good, they loaded the fries like crazy! the dopest part about this restaurant was that you can get any ingredient free of charge (grilled onions, sauces, grilled mushrooms etc.)

so much going on! its like i have never been this busy in just 2 days! add drop classes, counselors, books, traveling downtown, sheridan, oakton, home, sleep for 5 hours, get up, whole day of class, and repeat steps. but i did find out that loyola had awesome computers! they have iMacs all over the place and rentable macbook pros! that lightened my day, i just hope its not always rented out. school may be stressful but it will all be worth it when i am dunzo =]

this semester will mark my 6th different school in 3.5 years. it will most likely be my final destination of schools, it seems like loyola university is the school for me. im kind of excited but nervous about school. but all in all i would just like to get it over with!

but before it starts...

i had a real good weekend. it was my brother jasons birthday so we celebrated a sweet time.

HSM3 yes its a good movie

So I have been following these movies for a little bit and just recently I saw high school musical 2 which made me want to really watch High School Musical 3. It has everything you could ask for! Ups and downs, love story, action, dancing, singing, heart throbs, and cute girlies. Do not hate unless you have watched it yourself. Damn i wish i were in high school still =/

snow, christmas, fun times

so my brother and I met up our friends Uni, Mel, and Julie (CC minus bonnie) to go eat at sushi station...which was closed due to them setting up for lunch, so instead we ate at matsuwa, pretty badass japanese market place with a bunch of cool items from food to bape magazines. there was a nice looking bakery their and there was this awesome looking gingersnowman and a gingercakedstarofdavid. pretty wild having them next to each other. we sat at the food court of an hour or 2 just conversing and catching up and telling stories, it was nice to just sit a chat or listen

on christmas eve/christmas morning i went to church. usually my whole family goes to church to celebrate christmas but this year was different. everyone knocked out before eleven o clock and i was left awake at night with nothing to do. so i decided to keep the tradition going and go to church. its like every year where they sing pray and go over the same old stories and gospels. i was all the way in the back standing because there were no seats! but there were ushers there finding people seats, but the thing was that they never came up to me asking me if i wanted to sit! it was like man come on just because im a young dude at church alone doesnt mean im causing any mayhem. i guess they thought that im young and that my legs are ready for more than 1 hour of standing? i felt a little discriminated at church!
i got home and my brother justin got me presents!!! i thought i wasnt getting anything this year but he surprised me! he got me stuff for my bike and some blu ray DVDs. john mayer live blu ray and the patriot (one of my fav movies for some reason) on blu ray.
and this picture was taken days later when the weather was getting better and the snow was melting and fogging up my whole neighborhood.

its getting really cold out now and snow is falling. went to the garage to start up the bikes and warm up the baby girls. when they got warm i revved my bike to redline and kept doing it, as a result of quick revving flames started to come out! i got super excited so i kept doing it and i told my brother to try as well...anyways!

today we went to the HIP to cop some fall out boy tickets (i wasnt gonna go due to school) but juds, pat and jason wanted to. when we got there they wanted to see what free shirt came with it but they were all super small so we went to zumies to see wassup. they had this sick thick rail that we wanted but it cost a good amount and was too big to fit in the car. so they decided to not go to the concert and create a box for skating. i had to go to class unfortunately then study and do homework.

justin, jason, nerd, pat and judson all worked on this spectacular box. on one side it had coping and the other had a regular straight edge. i come home to see this!

we had another piece of wood so pat layed it down and put it as if it were a kicker. nerd found extra 2x4 pieces to use as legs under the board so it wont give out or break. and an end result came to this beautiful apparatus. skate ramp, kicker, box

so mark and edwin wanted to go to the house of hoops store in chicago (yes finally a house of hoops!) so mark calls me and i decide to go with them cause i didnt have shit to do. mark comes to pick me up and who do i see in the back seat! this cutey pie jonah! he will be a heartbreak! so all you newborn girls watch out!

the house of hoops is located at north riverside mall. its kind of far but it was worth it. this place had everything basketball/AF1/dunk(minus SBs)/blazers and many more! so much stuff in one room it was like an overload. the only thing i didnt like was the fact that every freakin salesman was trying to hassle me to try and get a sale. all in all the store was dope as hell. they had player edition shoes on the wall (kobe, lebron, amare, wade, melo) they had basketball rim with the glass backboard. i wonder how one would get a job here?

last group ride of the season?

when i got my bike on 7/11/08 i fell in love. it was like a new born coming out of the womb. she treated me well throughout the summer time that i have had her. we have gone through the tough times and the most amazing times. from great weather to bad weather. from group riding to just riding alone. from riding alone to someone actually riding on the back.

i know what youre thinking, who is this cutey pie? that dog is lola ;) and the person holding lola was my riding partner throughout the summer whenever she had time for it. thats ann

i never really rode anyone on the back of the bike besides my brother for the 1st time just to see how it felt. so i rode to my friend ann's place and i met her friend jessica who loves bikes. so she asks to ride on the back and i go of course. i was kind of nervous because it was my real 1st time riding someone on the back, but it wasnt that much harder. but my friend ann HATED the bike and said that she would never ride one ever! jessica convinced her and the rest was history. my brother had a bike as well so we would go on awesome group rides, me and ann on one bike and jason and jessica on the other. late night rides to downtown chicago land area to just riding around evanston or anywhere in chicago. we even got to get fondue late night! but long story short we loved riding and we had some awesome riding partners.

today is probably the last day of riding with the group... its very sad to see this go, until spring hits. we traveled all over chicago, we even got to see the rally that Obama had in grant park! shit was bonkers, hella lights and hundreds of people. i wish i could have taken a picture but i was riding my beautiful R6. im going to miss my bike for the winter, i just hope theres no snow and its 70 degrees out when december hits.

as october passes and another holiday gone (halloween) the weather changes and so does the time. halloween was an amazing weekend, a weekend fun. i would have never thought dressing up as someone else would be so entertaining and fun.

last days of weather freedom

it was an amazing day! i woke up and it was 60ish degrees outside. beginning of november with this weather is a pleasant feel for my body. i rode my motorcycle to school with no jacket and just a sweater. i texted my biker friends (franklin and rich) and brother (jason) to get together and ride because i know these will be the last few days of perfect weather until snow, shit and storms come. usually we ride super late cause people have work and school but today surprisingly everyone got out early and we got a chance to cruise for a long time! it hasnt been us 4 since late summer, it is so amazing to just ride with friends. its a totally different feeling than anything i have ever felt. so we stopped by a local mall and decided on where to go. we headed to UIC to meet up with some of our friends (justine and gigi then samantha came along later) and grab a bite to eat. i thought i had to leave early because i was gonna go ride with my friend but i guess she had other plans? but this was just as fun. we ate at some bar by UIC which was pretty delicious. we walked back to their condo and my brother spots this tree. a very orangey red tree with all its leaves still. i had to take a picture because this tree was ready for winter. but not me i am not ready. i must not worry though because spring is right around the corner.

empty hallways

with only 4 hours of sleep i had to wake up to this!...saturday morning class. i used to love saturday mornings, when i was a young boy i used to get up and watch all the best cartoons and shows. now its like wake up, go to school, nap, then go to school again, then dinner, then sleep and repeat it over and over (except for friday and sunday because i have no class) as i walk in the morning to my class i see that no one is in the hallways and there is nothing but pure silence. it felt like i was dreaming, nothing moving and no sound. it was until i got to class and saw my peers just sitting there in a daze ready to knock out and sleep. look what saturday has become. i used to look forward to saturday mornings but now i dread thinking of it. but on the bright side, i could finish school faster this way by taking an extra class.

being a college student is not what everyone needs, but is it really what i want? is it what i need? i am living paycheck to paycheck so to speak ... considering I don't even work haha but being a college student makes you even more broke: loans, gas, car, tuition, books, food and all that bullshit. i cant even have a decent breakfast anymore! for Pete's Sake .. (whoever Pete is) a gatorade for breakfast? .. (that guitar in the back isn't even mine! its my brother's sweet acoustic axe) speaking of guitar and music .. ill speak on that later. i know school can help with your knowledge and being smarter and higher salaries in the future .. but i would like to experience more than just money. someone once told me .. i took this picture laying down on a couch at school wanting to sleep because i was tired of studying for 3 damn hours at the library! i couldn't even get a chance to download some stuff.

to me i think this is one of my most artistic pictures i have taken! the lighting is kind of cool.

but as i sat there laying in the school sofa I was listening to some sweet jams on my phone. john mayer, jack johnson, jason mraz (3 J's), snow patrol, incubus and bow wow ft. t-pain (for some odd reason) as i waited for class i thought to myself, "DAMN i wish i could blow off school and just relearn the drums and advance in that shit!" so i could perform and have the feeling of playing in front of a live audience, something i have been wanting to do for the longest time. i dont care if the audience is just 5 people or 100 people. i mean whenever my friends come over my brother and i usually jam and play these 2 songs that we know, but we are currently trying to get a nice little repertoire of songs under our belt to have a nice little set, for a just in case situation. i love grooving with my brother as he plays his guitar and as i just keep the beat going. one of the most recent songs we've learned (it may be a bit simple but its tight when hiphop heads are there to try and freestyle to or just recite the lyrics) is cliche by typical cats. shits so tight! i wish if we do perform that song that someone just starts freestyling and a battle breaks out! ahh its that time of the year. last minute costume shopping at its finest! day of the day aka halloween is just around the corner and my brother, patrick and nerd head to belmont and clark to search for some vintage shit and some costumes

we 1st hit up ragstock, probably one of the most vintage of the vintage stores in chicago. i of course came out empty handed but pat and nerd got some dope vintage tees.
we then headed over to belmont army, brand new building with some brand new shit. they just opened their skate shop not too long ago and they carry some sick shit! the wall of skateboards is real sick but i was surprised to see that they carried in4mation shit. they had some dope shit
here is my brother, i believe he has to fly the f-22 raptor next week so he had to buy a jacket. can you believe this jacket is well over 650 bucks! i can only imagine what maverick and goose's jackets cost them.

So pat, justin, jason and i are at home its about 130ish and we were so bored we decided to hit up a 24 store. we were all excited to go and see what they got! new blu-rays or some toys or maybe a board game and some food.

it was just yesterday when my brother jason bought his new guitar at guitar center. i thought to myself, with all this time on my hands why not learn? so i ask him to teach me and of course my older brother is always more than willing to teach me some of his craft.

later that night after riding our motorcycles from aloha grill (bomb ass hawaiian food) we see nerd fixing up his fixed gear/single speed bike and my other brother justin forging a map in halo with pat. we get settled talk about life and what not. jason then brings his new acoustic out and starts playing some sweet licks and serenading to us (sort of). i see nerd doing a dance so the song lucky by jason mraz and colbie caillet. i dont think anybody should be dancing to that but nerd made it look amazing, like an interpretive dance of some sort. then my brother plays a song that i really really like, dashboard confessional - remember to breathe. i then ask him to teach me the ways of strumming. he then shows me the positioning of the fingers and the strumming of the strings. as i see him play it i try to remember how it goes. my 1st try wasnt too bad, just a little off, but i was feeling the song.

after a few tries i started the playing the song almost down to a tee. i close my eyes and feel the music take over my body. emotions releasing as i play each strum and switch to a different string on the guitar. i play the lyrics in my head as i play

spring break is over already? where does the time go? all in all my vacation was fun: relaxing, sun, beach, las vegas, dad

the plane ride alone was crazy, there were these TV sets in the head rests of the seats in front of us that played real time television and even had a crazy GPS map of where we were, how fast we were going and altitude.

ESPN on the plane?! come on now you can never go wrong with ESPN

went to huntington beach pier my 1st day and i got very nostalgic. the memories of taking lunch breaks there and surfing there

so my 1st night there i met up with my friend greg and we decided to go to the popular geisha house on hollywood BLVD for some japanese food. the food had small portions but for some reason it actually filled me up, maybe they used MSG or something. took a few sake bombs. the waitress judy was real cool because she gave us a few free ones because of my birthday. on the way out of the restaurant i heard a familiar voice. it was a voice of an MC. i 1st met this dude in wicker park hustlin his CDs. then i met him at school (columbia college) and talked to him there asked him about his music etc etc. i remember him telling me that he had a final project out in LA. so as i turn my head to see who it is and it was dude from wicker park selling his CDs in LA! what a coincidence. very small world.

the weather in california was amazing averaged about 76 degrees while we were there. very hot!..well compared to chicago weather.

the next few days my friends, brother and i went to all those shops: supreme, the hundreds, diamond supply co, flight club LA, union, stussy, undftd, and proper long beach. all these shops were real cool. didnt real cop much just a few fitteds shirts and kicks. of all the stores my fav spots had to be supreme and proper. so sick

the next few days we drove over to las vegas to see wassup over there, maybe say whats up to my old friends, meet up my dad and possibly lose a lot of money gambling. the drive there wasnt too bad. few hours.

when we got there i met up with a few of my friends to catch up.

while on this vacation we went to eat at this spot called in n out? i dunno if you know it but its the shit! if you dont know then youll know one day.

the drive back to LA was pretty amazing, i averaged a good 90-95 MPH. i felt like jeff gordon or jimmie johnson. i love driving that west coast freeway. very fast paced and drivers actually know what to do.

on our last night there my friend wanted to hit up a tattoo spot to get a tat and we went to this famous one in hollywood hills called shamrock social club. real elegant and old school feel. they had a pool table which was pretty cool. i really wanted to get another tattoo but i was iffy about it. we hit up LA ink to see wassup with kat von d but she wasnt there. maybe she'll show up next time i call her ;)

on our flight back we had a stop over in denver and my brother told me about this good spot to eat at because he ate there before on his long stop over. the food was amazing! SMOTHERED FRIES!! LAMB STEAK AND CHICKEN! LETTUCE WRAPPED IN GORGONZOLA AND SOMETHING ELSE!

while in LA i saw this dope ass quote that someone wrote on the wall..pretty creepy but cool.

in the wee hours of the night waiting for my 6 AM departure to Southern California, Orange County, beach breeze, toasty sun of the west coast. A 6 day trip with only a light packed backpack and a trusty skateboard. After a long 8 weeks of school it is finally time for spring break. Hard work and good grades will finally pay off. surf, sand, and spray. as i listen to jack johnson i can only think of one thing, and that is the beauty that is in the water and to think only a few hours and ill finally be hitting lefts and rights (waves). as i think to myself "am i forgetting anything for this trip? shit do i have to bring this?" a second thought comes to mind "fuck it who cares im gonna be in california on vacation!!" a week after having a great birthday weekend comes another week of fond memories and great travels. with so much going on in my mind i cant help but wait to touchdown in california. maybe, hopefully my trip with also consist of a vegas vacation :) maybe drive down for a day or two, visit the pops and some friends that i havent seen since holiday season. that is only if my brother and friends want to make the drive down, i mean i wouldnt mind, 3-4 hour drive with an ipod and a good company of friends is all you need on a road trip. as the seconds pass, minutes tick and hours shift the only thing i could think of is relaxing. freeing the mind from all troubles. see you soon chicago, here i come california =]

Brett Favre left a great legacy. Superbowl Champ and multiple records on the field. Time for him to pass the torch to the new great QBs.

Its not like I havent ever experimented with the whole God and prayer thing. Just last month I got caught away from the camp in that terrible blizzard, and I was totally lost and I couldnt see a thing, and it was fifty below, and so i tried it: I fell to my knees in the snow and cried out 'Oh, God, if there is a God, Im lost in this blizzard, and im gonna die if you dont help me."" The exact same experience can mean 2 totally different things to two different people, given those peoples two different belief templates and two different ways of constructing meaning from experience.
The definition of MEANING can differ in every culture, ethnicity, age, gender etc. We can argue the claim that one guys interpretation is true and the other view is wrong. But who are we to judge the difference of meaning?
Try not to be arrogant and try to be aware.
